# CRM Field Mapping Template

**Primary download:** [Excel mapping workbook](/resources/crm-field-mapping-template.xlsx)
**Secondary:** [PDF guide](/resources/crm-field-mapping-template.pdf)

Map source CRM data to your target system, define transformations and ownership, and identify migration gaps **before** data moves.

This is **not** a CRM evaluation checklist. Pass / Partial / Fail belongs on the [Migration Checklist](/resources/crm-migration-checklist/) and evaluation artifacts. This workbook is a **field mapping matrix** — source → target objects/fields, mapping types, transforms, picklists, lookups, validation, and readiness.

## How this fits the journey

1. [Requirements Builder](/tools/crm-requirements-builder/) — confirm what the target must hold
2. [Data Migration Template](/resources/crm-data-migration-template/) — objects, volumes, load order
3. **Field Mapping Template (this resource)** — field-level rules
4. [Migration Checklist](/resources/crm-migration-checklist/) — pilot, freeze, cutover
5. [Go-Live Checklist](/resources/crm-go-live-checklist/) — launch gates

## Core model

### Object mapping

Source object → target object · migrate yes/no · volume · owner · status

### Field mapping matrix (primary)

Source field + type + example → Target field + type · **Mapping type** · transformation · required · owners · status

Mapping types: Direct · Rename · Transform · Concatenate · Split · Lookup · Calculated · Default value · Value mapping · Do not migrate · Archive · New target field · Manual remediation

### Value / picklist maps

Source value → target value · action · approval · unknown-value handling

### Validation & readiness

Dashboard counts derive readiness:

- **BLOCKED** — required target fields unmapped
- **NOT READY** — gaps or open blockers
- **TEST READY** — required covered; validation incomplete
- **PRODUCTION READY** — required covered, tests pass, blockers closed

Do not invent decorative readiness percentages.
